Happy as a Virgin's Island: Until I Say "I Do", I Don't and I Won't
Published in Paperback by Robot Publishing (GA) (November, 2000)
Average review score:

You can say that again Chrissy!Happy on a virgin's island is an excellent book. Not only for African Americans but for all. Chrissy is on the right track. And she knows what shes talking about. Everything her and her family say are totally correct. The stories you gave help me to realize that life is not all about boys and sex. Its much more to it. And that being a virgin is much more then saying that you are its about virtue, intelligence, respect, genuine, innoncence, and being non-active. You let it be known, and you get your point across. Thanks for writing a book that could not just store me with information but, for others around the world. Even when I have kids, I'll pass this down to them. Hopefully, well I know you will instill this in your children, just as I plan.

Hawaii: True Stories of the Island Spirit (Travelers' Tales Guides)
Published in Paperback by Travelers' Tales Inc (July, 1999)
Average review score:

Anyone who loves the Hawaiian islands will love this book. This is more of a suggestion for reading rather than a review: read the book from beginning to end because the editors have done a splendid job of organizing the essays to present a coherent and colorful view of Hawaii. I don't know of a better contemporary look into what has attracted tourists to the islands since the first Polynesians arrived. While not exactly a travel guide, it is a map for how one might travel. As a cultural anthropologist, I enjoyed hearing the many voices telling the stories of this Pacific crossroads. The book belongs to the best tradition of the Hawaiian impulse to talk story.
